IF-- Cultivate (Character)

With apologies, Mr. Rockwell, I hope you won't mind if I share this wavelength for just a moment...

A Scout is:
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful,
Friendly, Courteous, Kind,
Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty,
Brave, Clean, Reverent.

  1. This is a great interpretation, Krista. I thought of Rockwell before I even read your caption.

  2. Ha! I had the idea, and while researching boy scout uniforms (sadly, that was easier than finding all the parts to my own kids' uniforms!) realized that Norman Rockwell had "been there and done that" several times, all far superior to my little Saturday morning sketch could ever hope to be. I'm sure the idea had to be somewhat subliminal, as my Mom had a great Norman Rockwell book when I was a kid, and I remember pouring over it. It was a lot of fun anyway, as this boy looks a little bit like my Grayson, when he lets me comb his hair over to the side! :)

  3. Wonderful! I'm sure Mr. Rockwell would be very honored. You know, the first art coffee table book I ever bought was of Norman Rockwell. He is timeless. Krista, I salute you!

  5. Awesome idea Krista. My husband was an eagle scout and later a scout leader. I think it broke his heart when my son didn't want to be a boy scout too.

  7. Ah you see you have cultivated the idea into something more than prompt. Off to check Rockwell, I love his work though I always feel like he is washing my brain with his images

  9. Hey Krista! This brings back some fond memories. I think that kid was even in my troop! His name is Dave Hawkins! Looks just like him! Great lines, wonderful character and perfect post. Old Norm would love the tribute :o)
