Illustration Friday-- Slither

When Grayson was a baby, I painted his name on a toy box.  When Asher was a baby, I bought a toy box, with every intention of painting his name on it.

Asher just turned nine.

Poor Ash.

Illustration Friday-- Early

Oh, wait... it's before noon... is it really too early?

(Apparently not!  A bit of research reveals that "the sun is over the yardarm" at 11:00am!)

The First Day of the Rest of Your Life

I had an interesting little job recently.  A client of my husband's asked me to illustrate her wedding guests as party favors.  (Lucky for me, it was a relatively small wedding-- only 40!)

The directions were pretty minimal, such as, "so-and-so has black hair and is very elegant, so-and-so is a triathlete with a prosthetic leg".  Well, I agonized (because I always do) but in the end the bride loved them!  I hope the guests liked them-- I'll never really know if any of them resembled anyone, since the wedding was in Texas.
I think the wedding was today.  I wonder how many of these will be on the floor of the car tomorrow! :)

Out of all of them, this one was my favorite, she wanted a portrait of her wedding dress.

Illustration Friday-- Equipment

There's no shortage of equipment in our house-- but why does it always end up on the couch?!

Happy Mother's Day!

I love you a bushel and a peck,
A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck,
A hug around the neck and a barrel and a heap,
A barrel and a heap and I'm talking in my sleep,
About you, about you...

(From the musical Guys and Dolls, but most importantly, from my memory of what my mother used to sing...)
