"Linked" is really too delicate of a word
Juneteenth is the celebration of the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas on June 19, 1865. Officially, the chains of slavery were broken, but word sometimes travels slowly, especially if the news does not benefit the messenger, and many slaves did not hear about their emancipation until later. The name "Juneteenth" alludes to this.
This is the "J" section of an alphabet of holidays and celebrations. Some are official, and some not-so-much.
In keeping with the spirit of "linked", here's a link to the manufactured art. And, interestingly, June 19th is also the day that the man-of-my-dreams and I got inextricably "linked"!

ReplyDeleteJune is a great month!! Great take on the topic and terrific illustration this week Krista. Love all your references to linked. Oh by the way, I haven't officially announced it yet, but you are the third winner of a t-shirt over at Mr. BibleHead. If you can email me with the size you'll need, I will get it out to you as quickly as I can. You'd better put your address in the email as well. I have it somewhere, but it will save me looking through my filing system (stacks of papers and stuff :o)

Krista, I had to come back to say thanks again for your very , very, kind and healing words. Sometimes you never know how much you touch someone and your words have touched a broken place in me. Thanks for letting the Lord you use you. You are such a precious and beautiful soul.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I came to peel you off the floor, but I think you're already off doing something wonderful. :)

ReplyDeleteThank you very much for stopping by my blog. Thank you because I have forgotten your link. I told Bella I went to a blog and she had this beautiful collage of coffees, I have a bad memory. So thank you for reminding me because I have now bookmarked you.
ReplyDeleteThen I came here today and found this alphabet tapestry which I love because I collect alphabets. I went to the link but it is eBay. Oh my. The last time I was in eBay was when I was collecting dishes.
Anyway, why do you have to know all of that right? I am trying to reactivate my eBay account so I can get that tapestry, I may just create a new account. Let's see... I will let you know.
BAM! Just like that. The tapestry is mine! WHOAAAA! Have a great day.
